Jordan’s late 3 lifts Niagara over Canisius 66-65

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Marvin Jordan came off the bench to score 23 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer for Niagara in the Purple Eagles’ 66-65 win over Canisius on Sunday for in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Niagara (13-8, 9-1), which trailed 32-25 at halftime, rallied to tie the game at 59 behind a jumper from Antoine Mason with 3:29 left to play. Canisius’ Billy Baron broke open a 63-all tie with a layup at the 11 second mark but Jordan connected on his game-winner on the ensuing possession.

Mason, who has scored in double figures through the first 21 games this season and in 28 straight games dating back to last season, finished with 14. The Purple Eagles are off to their best MAAC start in program history and have won nine straight conference games.

Chris Manhertz had 17 points and 15 boards for Canisius (13-8, 6-4).
