Port of Kalama’s executive director plans March retirement

Lanny Cawley, executive director of the Port of Kalama, has announced plans to retire in March after nearly 19 years at the port.

Cawley, 64, joined the port as its director of property development and management in 1994 and has served as executive director since 1998. He previously managed the Port of Woodland, according the port.

During Cawley’s tenure, the port developed its industrial park and attracted several large business tenants, such as Cameron Family Glass, Bennu Glass, LLC Steelscape Inc. and American Air Liquide. Other projects completed under Cawley’s direction included new road and utility infrastructure, the acquisition of more land east of Interstate 5 earmarked for business and recreational sites, and development of the North Port heavy industrial site.
