o What to do in the garden in February: 11 a.m. Feb. 2. Get information about ramping up for spring and maintenance to be done in the garden.

o Inviting mason bees to your garden: 11 a.m. Feb. 9. Learn about mason bees and how to encourage them to visit your garden in the coming growing season.

o Root-over-rock workshop: 11 a.m. Feb. 16. Learn how to carve and drill rock to prepare it for planting. Fee: $35, includes plant, rock, pot and soil. Preregistration is required. Silent observers welcome for free.

Clark County Master Gardener Foundation: 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at Center for Agricultural, Scientific and Environmental Education, Room 202, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie. Mark Hallenbeck, bee breeder and supplier, will discuss bees and trees. Free. http://mgfcc.com.

Pruning Class: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 16, at Daybreak Gardens, 25321 N.E. 72nd Ave., Battle Ground. Classroom lecture and outdoor demonstration. Fee $25. Register at 360-687-5641.

Clark County Master Gardener Foundation: 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 16 at Center for Agricultural, Scientific and Environmental Education, Room 206, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie. Joan Veach, master composter recycler and master gardener, will explore the relationship between organic amendments and the soil food web, an ecosystem of microbes, bugs and worms which improve fertility and increase water retention during the summer.
