NEW YORK (AP) — The Diamondbacks have placed backup infielder Willie Bloomquist on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left hand and recalled outfielder Tony Campana from Triple-A Reno.

The speedy Campana took an overnight flight and was in the leadoff spot Wednesday against Mets ace Matt Harvey.

Bloomquist was hit by a pitch in Washington last Wednesday, but X-rays did not show a break. The move is retroactive to June 27.

Bloomquist is batting .292 with eight RBIs in 22 games. He started the season on the DL with a strained muscle on his right side and was activated May 31.

Campana, acquired in February from the Cubs for two minor league pitchers, was set to make his Diamondbacks debut. He was 54 for 59 on stolen base attempts (91.5 percent) with Chicago from 2011-12.
