KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Cleveland Indians activated outfielder Michael Bourn from the paternity list and optioned left-hander Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus before Wednesday night’s game against the Royals.
Bourn left the Indians after Saturday’s game against the White Sox to be with his wife in Houston as she gave birth. He was back in center field and batting leadoff in Kansas City.
Hagadone has been shuffling between the big league club and the minors most of the season. He walked a batter and struck out another in the Indians’ 6-5 series-opening win Tuesday night.
In other news, Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis was voted AL Player of the Month for June. He’s the first Cleveland player to win the award since Shin-Soo Choo in 2008.
