CLEVELAND (AP) — The Indians have recalled right-hander Carlos Carrasco to start against Detroit.

Carrasco, who hasn’t won a major league game since June 29, 2011, was brought up from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday to face the first-place Tigers, who have beaten the Indians six straight times and lead the AL Central by 2 1/2 games.

Carrasco has made five previous starts for the Indians this season. He also served a suspension for intentionally throwing at New York’s Kevin Youkilis on April 9.

The 26-year-old missed all of 2012 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. This is his third stint with the Indians in 2013.

To make room for Carrasco, the Indians optioned reliever Joe Martinez back to the Clippers. The right-hander appeared in two games for Cleveland after being promoted on June 29.
