Port of Vancouver reschedules oil terminal hearing to July 22

The Port of Vancouver has rescheduled a workshop to discuss leasing a site for a proposed crude-oil transfer terminal.

Instead of convening a morning workshop on July 9, the port’s Board of Commissioners will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 22, at 3103 N.W. Lower River Road. The port changed the workshop date, in part, to allow more time for lease negotiations. The date also changed in response to earlier public comments suggesting an evening meeting would enable people who are busy during the day to participate.

During the July 22 workshop, commissioners will review and discuss a proposed lease between the port and a joint venture by Tesoro Corp. and Savage Companies. The companies want to build a crude-oil facility that would handle as much as 380,000 barrels of oil per day.

Commissioners may decide a proposed lease arrangement with the companies during their regular hearing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23.
