PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Ski racing legend Stein Eriksen has been hospitalized for more than a week in Utah with what has been described as “neurological symptoms.”

Deer Valley Resort spokeswoman Coleen Reardon told The Salt Lake Tribune (http://bit.ly/16dg4OV ) that the 85-year-old Eriksen was flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray on June 26 from his home in Park City, near Salt Lake City.

She says he was in intensive care for a couple of days but “seems to be on the mend.”

Eriksen won the gold medal in giant slalom and the silver medal in slalom at the 1952 Winter Olympics in his hometown of Oslo, Norway.

He moved to the United States, where he worked at Park City Mountain Resort before leaving to become director of skiing at nearby Deer Valley.
