I am confused. Based on his “qualifications” state Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, was hired as the head of the Clark County Department of Environmental Services. No one else was even considered for the position.
Now there is an opening on the Clark County Planning Commission. But Rich Carson, the former head of the Clark County Community Development Department — could there be a more qualified applicant? — will not even be interviewed for that position. Have I got this right? One is a full-time position with serious money on the county payroll as head of a department. For that position a part-timer with no experience in that area of expertise is hired. But for a volunteer position on the planning commission, an applicant with a lot of experience in that area of expertise will not even be considered.
Is anybody in county government looking out for the good of our community?
