LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — The makeover of Kentucky’s Rupp Arena will be handled by the Indianapolis firm that expanded Louisville’s football stadium and the architectural firm that revamped UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion.

Lexington city spokesman Susan Straub confirmed that Hunt Construction Group was hired Wednesday to handle renovations of the 37-year-old home of Kentucky’s men’s basketball team. NBBJ will be the project’s architect.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for fall 2014.

Hunt’s web site lists Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium among venues it has built. The firm added 10,500 upper deck seats, sheltered loge seats and 33 suites to the 15-year-old facility, expanding capacity to 55,000 in 2010.

Details on the Rupp refurbishing and the adjoining Lexington Convention Center will be announced at an afternoon news conference that will include Gov. Steve Beshear and Mayor Jim Gray.
