The Vancouver Pops Orchestra kicked off the first Terry Lee Noon Hour concert of 2013 on Wednesday, drawing a crowd of about 500 to Esther Short Park for a blast of afternoon music. At right, Keith Cheek, left, plays saxophone with the orchestra.
The free concert series continues from noon to 1 p.m. for five more Wednesdays. Next up on July 17 is The New Iberians, a blues and zydeco band from Portland.
Can’t get enough music in the park? Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. is the start of the popular — and usually packed — Riverview Six to Sunset concerts, now in its 27th year of hosting free Thursday concerts in Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St. Blues singer Curtis Salgado takes the stage for the first show.
