THE DALLES — A sea lion dubbed Ray has made himself at home at The Dalles Marina.

And it looks like he’s there to stay.

The Dalles Chronicle reports that the 1,200-pound animal has grown fat on salmon from fishing nets.

Fishermen at the marina regularly haul in catches with single bites taken out of many fish.

The sea lion has been in the Columbia Gorge for almost two years now. He was expected to move back downriver, to traditional breeding grounds.

So far, Ray has evaded the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s usual trap-and-relocate efforts.
