BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Colorado quarterback Shane Dillon plans to transfer to another school to play basketball.

Dillon is a redshirt freshman and is listed as a backup on the Buffaloes’ depth chart behind junior Connor Wood.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Dillon was recruited as a basketball player out of Christian High School in El Cajon, Calif.

He went through spring practice with Colorado and was 19 for 39 for 185 yards and two touchdowns in four scrimmages under new coach Mike MacIntyre.

The school said in a statement that Dillon had spoken with CU basketball coach Tad Boyle about the possibility of joining the team but no scholarships were available.
