OLYMPIA — Olympia-based Heritage Financial Corp., the parent company of Heritage Bank, announced Monday it completed the previously announced acquisition of Valley Community Bancshares, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Valley Bank of Puyallup.

The merger expands Heritage Bank’s presence in the Puget Sound region, increasing its assets to approximately $1.7 billion and 43 branches.
