ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ivan Rodriguez has been inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.

The catcher affectionately known as “Pudge” became the 16th player inducted into the team’s hall during a pregame ceremony Saturday night.

Rodriguez played the first 12 of his 21 major league seasons in Texas. He made his debut at age 19 in June 1991, and also returned to the Rangers for the end of the 2009 season.

He caught a major league record 2,427 games. His 13 Gold Gloves are the most ever for a catcher.

In 1,507 career games with the Rangers, Rodriguez hit .304 with 217 home runs with 842 RBIs. In his second game, he caught for Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan.

Pudge, who played for five other teams, is now a special assistant in the Rangers organization.
