ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Artemis Racing of Sweden has launched its new America’s Cup 72-foot catamaran, 2 12 months after the fatal capsize of its first boat.

The syndicate hopes to sail sometime later this week. It has so far missed racing in the Louis Vuitton Cup for challengers.

On May 9, British sailor Andrew “Bart” Simpson was killed and Artemis Racing’s first catamaran was destroyed in a capsize on San Francisco Bay. Construction of the new boat was already underway, but was delayed by the capsize and ensuing police investigation.

The syndicate says the blue-hulled boat will undergo tuning of its wing sail and other rigging while docked, as well as a run-through of systems such as wing control, daggerboards and steering.
