Annual summer street maintenance work starts this week, including overlay paving on 14 lane miles of major arterials, according to a Monday news release from the city’s public works department.

Drivers should expect possible lane closures on the following streets: Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard from Southeast Chkalov Drive to Southeast 136th Avenue; Andresen Road between MacArthur and Mill Plain boulevards; East 33rd Street between P Street and St. Johns Boulevard; St. James Road from Arnold Road to Cherry Road; and Southeast Bella Vista Road between Southeast Cascade Park Drive and Southeast McGillivray Boulevard.

Much of the work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, but may run as late as 8 p.m.

On heavily traveled Southeast Mill Plain, however, work will be done between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weekdays to minimize disruption for commuters.
