Landover-Sharmel — The Landover-Sharmel Neighborhood Association celebrated turning 15 years old last week. The west Vancouver neighborhood, sandwiched between the Image and Fircrest areas, is mostly made up of single-family homes on spacious lots, as well as a business district known as Four Seasons. Since the neighborhood was formally recognized in 1998, association leaders have undertaken projects to improve the area, including working with the city to establish an undeveloped four-acre park near Northwest 20th Street — where the neighborhood’s annual picnic was held Saturday.
Central Vancouver’s Northwood neighborhood reached its own milestone this year: its 20-year anniversary. Residents will celebrate at a National Night Out ice cream social at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at Van Fleet Park.
