Riveridge — Vancouver author and illustrator Alene Adele Roy received an honorable mention award in the general fiction category this month at the 2013 Hollywood Book Festival at Hollywood, Calif.’s famed Roosevelt Hotel. Roy’s illustrated novel, “Sanctuary,” which is aimed at young adults, follows a young nanny who takes her first job in 1865 at a farm far from her home. There, she finds romance, friendship and mystery. Roy, who grew up on a chicken farm, found inspiration for the novel in her own upbringing. Learn more at http://www.author-aleneroy.com.
