STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy says he believes Mike Yurcich will make a successful jump from Division II to his new role as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator.

Yurcich joined the Oklahoma State staff in February after a successful two-year run at Shippensburg (Pa.). Speaking at his annual media golf outing, Gundy says some might view such a major move up the coaching ranks with skepticism, but he’s confident Yurcich will make a smooth transition.

Yurcich says the facilities at Oklahoma State are much better than those at the Division II level, but that the football schemes he used at Shippensburg are similar to those he’ll use with the Cowboys.
