ISSAQUAH — A King County sheriff's spokeswoman says an officer smashed a car window to rescue a 3-month-old boy who had been left inside the hot vehicle parked in the east Seattle suburb of Issaquah.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West says the child's father was arrested when he returned to the car Wednesday evening. He reportedly said the child had been in the car for about 20 minutes. West says the 31-year-old Issaquah man was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of second-degree child endangerment.
KOMO-TV reports that West says the father had been shopping at a grocery store. Passers-by noticed the child in the locked car with the windows rolled up and called 911.
The baby reportedly was lethargic when he was freed. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Deputies notified Child Protective Services and the baby was returned to his mother.
