TORONTO (AP) — The Houston Astros optioned rookie right-hander Paul Clemens to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday and recalled left-hander Brett Oberholtzer from Triple-A.
Clemens was 4-4 with a 6.36 ERA in 30 games. He gave up six runs in the seventh inning of Friday’s 12-6 loss at Toronto. He allowed six straight batters to reach base to begin the seventh, including back-to-back home runs by Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind.
This will be Oberholtzer’s third stint with the Astros this season. He has appeared in three games, going 0-0 with a 7.36 ERA.
Outfielder Robbie Grossman also joined the Astros in Toronto Saturday. He was called up from Triple-A when outfielder J.D. Martinez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left wrist.
