GM: Giants need to make more playoffs

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Jerry Reese says his New York Giants need to make the playoffs more often than once every four years — even if they won the Super Bowl in that single appearance.

The team’s general manager greeted the media at the Giants’ first training camp practice Saturday with some strong words about their needing to achieve more.

Saying that failing to get to the postseason in 2009, 2010 and 2012 was not satisfactory, Reese adds, “We want to do better and we will do better.”

In 2011, the Giants won the NFC East on the final night of the season, and then stormed to four playoffs wins and the championship. Otherwise, not much.

So he wants more consistency from the Giants, who finished 9-7 after a 6-2 start last season.
