Funeral procession this morning will affect traffic in Vancouver, Hazel Dell

A funeral procession for a local firefighter will affect traffic in downtown Vancouver and Hazel Dell today between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Robert W. Hamel, a firefighter with Clark County Fire District 6 since 1990, died of cancer on Thursday at the age of 59. Hamel’s death is considered a line of duty death by the district.

The procession will start at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home, 302 W. 11th St, then travel north on Main Street, which turns into Highway 99. The procession will then travel east on Northeast 78th Street, ending at Crossroads Community Church, 7708 N.E. 78th St., where an 11 a.m. service will be held.
