CLEVELAND (AP) — Jake Peavy’s scheduled start has been pushed back by the Chicago White Sox, who may trade the right-hander before Wednesday’s deadline.

Peavy was to pitch in Tuesday night’s game against the Indians, but the team said he will now start Wednesday unless he’s dealt. Peavy will be replaced by rookie Andre Rienzo, who was to make his big league debut and become the first Brazilian to pitch in the majors.

At this point, the White Sox have not announced a deal for Peavy, who could be headed toward a contender, just as he was when the White Sox acquired him from San Diego in 2009.

Boston and Oakland are among the teams most interested in Peavy, 8-4 in 13 starts this season.

On Monday, the last-place White Sox traded reliever Jesse Crain to Tampa for future considerations.
