Firefighters from Clark County Fire & Rescue responded to Union Ridge Elementary School in Ridgefield Wednesday morning after part of the school filled with light smoke.

A heating unit had malfunctioned and caused smoke to fill an area of the school.

Division Chief Mike Jackson said the school was not damaged. The smoke was reported at 9:17 a.m. and firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour to investigate and ventilate the building.
