Letter: Initiative 594 is the one to sign

An enlightening editorial on July 23, “Dueling initiatives,” was concerning the two gun safety petitions circulating the state of Washington. However, in contrast to the editorial’s comment, “Even if you sign the wrong petition, no long-term harm will be done,” I believe we should be sure to sign the petition that will enhance gun safety. That petition number is Initiative 594. Signing the I-594 petition, and continuing to encourage our representatives to uphold it in the Legislature, is a step to a safer community, county and state. The measure would require background checks for all gun sales, similar to the checks already required for sales involving licensed firearms dealers.

Remember, I-594 represents gun safety.
