LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Tyler Nurdin allowed two earned runs in seven strong innings, and No. 3-seeded Oklahoma State beat No. 4 Bowling Green 7-3 in an elimination game of the NCAA tournament’s Louisville regional Saturday.

The Cowboys (40-18) jumped to an early 4-0 lead with a run in the first inning and three in the second. Oklahoma State, which had only one player with more than five home runs this season, scored six of its seven runs on singles. Its final run in the eighth inning scored on a wild pitch.

Falcons starter Cody Apthorpe gave up all four early runs and was pulled with one out in the second. He allowed four hits and four walks, striking out none.

Bowling Green (24-31) loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the eighth, and designated hitter Matthew Pitzulo came to the plate as the tying run. He flew out to left field to end the inning.

The Falcons were playing in their first NCAA tournament since 1999.
