Letter: Watchdogs have work ahead

John Laird’s May 26 column, “Foxy Don wears ALEC badge in environmental henhouse” expands on my own reaction when I read of Clark County’s two Republican commissioners’ shockingly blatant political appointment of totally unqualified Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, to head the Department of Environmental Services. To wit: Watch out, Clark County residents — the fox is guarding the henhouse. Watchdog residents have hard work ahead. Fox Benton’s feet must be continuously held over the fires of scrutiny and law. Put on your cloak of indefatigability, environmentalists of Clark County and Vancouver. You will need it.
