LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Olympic champion Evan Lysacek will return to major competition for the first time since Vancouver at Skate America.

Lysacek drew one Grand Prix when assignments were handed out Monday. He’ll face reigning world silver medalist — and training mate — Denis Ten at the event, Oct. 18-20 in Detroit. Evgeni Plushenko, the silver medalist in Vancouver, also was assigned to one Grand Prix, the Rustelecom Cup in Moscow.

Kim Yu-na will compete in the Grand Prix circuit for the first time since she won gold in Vancouver. Kim drew Skate Canada and Trophee Bompard in Paris. She won the world title in commanding fashion in March after taking most of the last two years off.

The top six skaters in each discipline will qualify for the Grand Prix Final.
