BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Services have been held in Michigan for a former college football quarterback found dead last month.

Former teammates and coaches joined family and friends Tuesday at a Mass for Cullen Finnerty at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Livingston County’s Brighton Township. Interment followed at a Detroit area cemetery.

The 30-year-old Finnerty won more than 50 games and three national championships at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., the last in 2006. His body was discovered May 28 in woods in western Michigan after he disappeared during a family trip to a cottage. A cause of death hasn’t been determined.

Finnerty was a star at Brighton High School, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.
