Letter: Failure to fly flag is bad form

The Columbian
Published: June 3, 2013, 5:00pm

I, too, have not forgotten those who served our nation and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Being a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, I stopped by Vancouver Barracks to show my respect and to salute the fallen. Well done, Vancouver.

When leaving and driving through Officers Row, excluding the Grand and Marshall houses and if my count is correct, of the remaining 19 structures, only three were posting the American flag. An area labeled and covered in military history should show remembrance of those who died in the line of duty, no matter who owns the property — especially on Memorial Day.
