BOSTON (AP) — The Texas Rangers have activated right-hander Alexi Ogando from the 15-day disabled list.
Ogando was placed on the DL with a right biceps strain May 16, one day after improving his record to 4-2 with a 6-2 win at Oakland. He allowed one earned run in six innings in that game to lower his ERA to 3.08 in nine starts with Texas.
Ogando was scheduled to start against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.
To make room for him on the roster, the Rangers optioned left-hander Joseph Ortiz to Triple-A Round Rock. The rookie has a 2-1 record and 5.13 ERA in 20 outings, all in relief, for Texas.
