CINCINNATI (AP) — Right-hander Johnny Cueto has been scratched from his start against the Colorado Rockies, his second setback of the season.

The Reds planned to call up right-hander Pedro Villarreal, who was on turn to start for Triple-A Louisville. The 25-year-old pitcher made one relief appearance for Cincinnati last season. Wednesday’s start will be his first in the majors.

Cueto was on the disabled list from April 15 to May 19 with a strained muscle in his back. He made three starts after his return, going 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA. He allowed only one hit in eight innings of a 6-0 win in Pittsburgh on Friday.

The Reds didn’t immediately comment on his medical problem or whether he would be going back on the disabled list.
