TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Injured Yankees captain Derek Jeter remains hopeful of getting cleared to increase his baseball activities next week.

Still recovering from offseason left ankle surgery, the shortstop has moved his rehab program from New York to the Yankees’ minor league complex in Tampa, Fla.

Jeter resumed playing catch last week in addition to indoor cardio work and physical therapy.

Jeter, who turns 39 later this month, will have a CT scan and be examined the middle of next week by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte N.C. The Yankees have said Jeter will be sidelined until after the All-Star break in mid-July.

The 13-time All-Star broke his ankle during the AL championship series and insisted he would be back by opening day. But he fractured his ankle again while rehabbing.
