A maintenance worker facing charges of rape and child molestation killed himself in his car outside of Addy, 58 miles northwest of Spokane, according to the Stevens County Coroner’s office.

Timothy D. Woodard, was found dead in his car at about 11:55 a.m. Wednesday. An autopsy indicates carbon monoxide is the cause of death, but the coroner is awaiting a full toxicology report.

Woodard, 48, failed to appear before Superior Court Judge James Triplet on Tuesday, prompting a warrant for his arrest. He faced seven felony counts for sex crimes that occurred 15 years ago, including first-degree rape and first-degree child molestation. The alleged victim was 10 years old at the time.

According to court records, Woodard was working at Burgan’s Furniture and Gonzaga University during the time of the alleged crimes. Sex acts allegedly occurred at both the furniture store and the Gonzaga campus, prompting an investigation of on-campus security measures.Woodard is the second Gonzaga employee suspected of sexual misconduct involving children in the past two weeks. The Rev. Gary Uhlenkott, a music professor, allegedly purchased child pornography and had it delivered to his Gonzaga office, as well as in downloadable form to his university-issued email account. Police records indicate FBI agents found 47 CDs and DVDs in Uhlenkott’s office.
