ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Pudge is going into the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame.

Ivan Rodriguez, the 14-time All-Star catcher who spent most of his career with Texas, will be the 16th member of the team’s hall of fame. The Rangers said Friday that his induction will be during a pregame ceremony July 20.

Rodriguez announced his retirement after 21 seasons as a player in April 2012. He is now a special assistant for the Rangers.

Rodriguez made his major league debut as a 19-year-old for Texas in 1991. He caught a major league record 2,427 games and his 13 Gold Gloves are the most for a catcher.

In 1,507 career games with Texas from 1991-2002 and late in 2009, the 1999 AL MVP hit .304 with 217 homers and 842 RBIs.
