TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State will play Notre Dame at home on Nov. 8, 2014, after the Fighting Irish’s move to the Atlantic Coast Conference put the game in danger of being canceled.

Arizona State announced the game had been saved Tuesday.

The game between the Sun Devils and Irish that was scheduled to be played in 2017 at South Bend, Ind., has been canceled.

The schools struck a deal to play the games back in 2008. But with Notre Dame starting to play five ACC teams per season in 2014, it was unclear if the Irish could fit in the Sun Devils.

The teams will also play this season at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Oct. 5.
