CARY, N.C. (AP) — Cesar Elizondo scored to go-ahead goal in extra time Wednesday night to lead the Carolina Railhawks to a 3-1 win over Chivas USA in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.

Brian Ackley added an insurance goal for the NASL team with a header off Floyd Franks’ corner kick later in extra time.

Ty Shipalane put Carolina ahead in the 13th minute, scoring into an open net on a one-touch assist from Brian Shriver.

Chivas tied it in the 57th when Walter Vilchez Soto headed in Carlos Alvarez’ free kick from the right sideline.
