PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have claimed right-hander Nate Adcock off waivers from the Kansas City Royals and sold right-hander Warner Madrigal to Japan’s Chunichi Dragons.
Adcock was 3-4 with a 7.09 ERA in 10 games, nine starts, for Triple-A Omaha this season. The 25-year-old pitcher was 1-4 with a 3.79 ERA in 36 games with the Royals, five as a starter, in 2011 and 2012. The Diamondbacks optioned Adcock to Triple-A Reno. He is 35-44 with a 4.61 ERA in seven minor league seasons since Seattle selected him in the fifth round of the 2006 draft.
The 29-year-old Madrigal was 1-0 with a 2.75 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 22 relief appearances for Reno. Madrigal appeared in 44 major league games for Texas in 2008 and 2009, going 0-2 with a 6.10 ERA.
