Letter: Pursue the third-bridge solution

The Columbian

On March 18, I was driving from Vancouver to Portland at 8 a.m. over the Glenn Jackson Bridge and got caught in the huge accident caused by a tractor-trailer that entered the bridge going the wrong way.

The signs for a detour said to exit I-205 and take Highway 14 over to the I-5 Bridge. The traffic on Highway 14 was terrible and was not an efficient option. Of course, I was over an hour late for my doctor’s appointment.

To plan on removing the perfectly good I-5 Bridge makes no sense. What we need is a third bridge. Why spend time and money removing a good bridge — add another one. I think it could cost less than replacing the current bridge and cause less interruption.

We need more bridges.
