COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Danish swimmer Mads Glaesner will be stripped of gold and bronze medals from last year’s world short-course championships because of a positive drug test.

The Danish swimming federation says Glaesner received a three-month suspension after testing positive for Levmetamfetamine, a product used in nasal decongestants, after winning bronze in the 400-meter freestyle at the worlds in Istanbul in December.

Federation spokeswoman Nora Thomsen says the ban was imposed March 19 and Glaesner will be eligible to compete again later this week.

Thomsen says Glaesner will lose his bronze medal and the gold that he won in the 1,500-meter freestyle two days later in Istanbul.

The 1,500-meter gold will now go to Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy, while Matthew Stanley of New Zealand will be upgraded to bronze in the 400.
