BALTIMORE (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have recalled right-hander Pedro Beato from Triple-A and optioned Rubby De La Rosa to Pawtucket.

The moves were made Sunday before the Red Sox faced the Orioles.

Manager John Farrell has been forced to juggle his pitching staff because of this Tuesday’s doubleheader against Tampa Bay and the uncertain status of Clay Buchholz, who could end up on the 15-day disabled list with a neck injury. He has not pitched since June 8.

Buchholz (9-0, 1.71 ERA) is slated for a bullpen session Tuesday. Farrell said Sunday: “We’re hoping it’s Tuesday. Clay is also aware that if it’s not by Tuesday, we’re looking at a roster spot.”

De La Rosa was called up Friday but did not pitch.
