Letter: CRC view is forced on us

The Columbian
Published: June 17, 2013, 5:00pm

In the June 15 story, “Murray targets opponents of CRC,” Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., argues that if we don’t accept a bridge with less traffic capacity and overpriced light rail, then we don’t want a new bridge at all. This is another dishonest argument.

Murray knows the Columbia River Crossing cannot win an argument based on true function and affordability.

If the CRC officials’ view of our future doesn’t include individual independence, then their bridge makes sense.

If we have to pay them $4,000 per year in property taxes and tolls, most of us won’t be able to afford a “dirty” car.
