Dulin’s owner considers move to old Pop Culture spot

Downtown diner Dulin’s Cafe is considering leasing and moving into the vacant nearby building that formerly housed soda shop Pop Culture at 1929 Main St., about one-and-a-half blocks north of the cafe’s present site in the Uptown Village neighborhood.

The plans are dependent on negotiations with the building’s owner, Brot Bishop, said Pat Dulin, who has owned and operated Dulin’s Cafe in the area since 1992. In November, Dulin announced plans to move the business out of its present site at 1708 Main St., which is owned by The Holland Inc., parent of the Burgerville restaurant chain.

It is unclear why soda shop and entertainment venue Pop Culture closed. The Uptown Village venue was popular for its no-frills menu, live music nights, movie nights and showcase of local artwork.
