Letter: Allow women options in military

I am excited to hear of combat roles opening for women. This could create 237,000 more combat positions for them. However, until 2016, some roles will remain closed to women.

Daughters everywhere feel like they could be doing more, but they don’t have the full opportunity to be all they could be.

I want to know why it’s so complicated to let women serve on the front lines. Why is it so difficult to stop the prejudice towards women? Should they be limited in any way regarding the military? Some women are stronger, have more determination, a natural leadership, less fear and the ability to keep their heads in hectic scenarios.

I don’t know how many women will want a front-line job but the option needs to be there. Women should not have to wait until 2016 for most commando jobs to be opened to them.
