Police say driver inattention caused a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Hazel Dell that sent four people to the hospital.

Around 3:20 p.m. Sunday, Brock Purdue, 16, was heading east on Northeast 78th Street when he turned left into the Goodwill parking lot on the north side of the street, in front of a westbound vehicle, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of that vehicle, Inna Gordiyenka, 29, of Vancouver, and two of her passengers, Nadezhda Stupak, 69, of California and a 4-year-old girl, were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. A third passenger, a 5-year-old boy, was transported to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the Traffic Homicide Unit was called out to investigate the crash.

Purdue had no passengers and was not injured in the crash. He will likely be cited for causing the collision, the sheriff’s office said.
