INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Missy Franklin and Ryan Lochte will compete in the finals for the third straight night after posting two of the top times Thursday morning at the U.S. national championships.

Less than 24 hours after both American swimmers won the 200-meter freestyle and 200 backstroke, they were dominant again.

Franklin qualified second in the 50 back at 28.15 seconds, behind Rachel Bootsma. Lochte had the top qualifying time in the 100 butterfly, 52.08 seconds, an event he rarely swims.

Kevin Steel, who swims for Arizona, had the best showing Thursday morning, breaking the U.S. Open and long-course national record in the 50 breaststroke prelims with a time of 27.30.

Also reaching the finals were Olympians Dana Vollmer in the women’s 100 fly and Tyler Clary in the men’s 400 individual medley.
