PeaceHealth cuts five leadership jobs in Oregon

Continued budget pressure related to health care reform has led PeaceHealth to cut five leadership positions in the Eugene, Ore. area, the Register-Guard of Eugene reported. An official at PeaceHealth, based in Vancouver, did not rule out the possibility of further job cuts.

The positions include senior leadership jobs in the neurosciences and oncology departments and management positions in pharmacy and behavioral health. An interim senior leadership position for Sacred Heart Medical Center’s University District campus in Eugene, near the University of Oregon, was eliminated through attrition.

Those programs and services will continue under re-organized leadership, said John Hill, CEO for the PeaceHealth Oregon West Network, which includes Lane County, Ore.

He said “the need to control costs and operate more efficiently has intensified” as PeaceHealth prepares for further reductions in reimbursements that will accompany the continued implementation of the national Affordable Care Act.
