A Battle Ground woman was injured Friday morning after rear-ending an SUV that was stopped for a turning vehicle on Highway 502 in Dollars Corner.

Joanne Polinder, 70, was westbound on Highway 502 near Northeast 50th Avenue in a Subaru Outback. She failed to stop for an Isuzu Rodeo that was stopped for a turning vehicle. The Outback swerved to the right and struck the rear bumper of the Rodeo, coming to rest in the ditch north of the higwhay, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Polinder was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. The driver of the Rodeo, Lyn Schmitz, 22, and her passenger, Janet Schmitz, 47, both of Woodland, were not injured.

The State Patrol said driver inattention and speed caused the crash. Polinder was cited for speeding.
